Best Sportman
The Best Sportsman Award in a Warhammer 40K tournament recognizes and celebrates players who demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship throughout the event. This award highlights individuals who exhibit fair play, respectful behavior, and a positive attitude towards their opponents and the overall gaming community. It acknowledges players who not only compete fiercely but also prioritize a spirit of camaraderie, graciousness, and goodwill. The Best Sportsman Award serves as a reminder of the importance of good sportsmanship in fostering a friendly and enjoyable gaming environment for everyone involved.
After Game 5, players will anonymously vote for the player that they believe deserves Best Sportsman. This will be someone they previously played.
Weekend Warrior Criteria
Your performance in the event and the quality of your painting determine your ranking for the Weekend Warrior Award. The concept of ranking is straightforward: the better you perform, the greater your chances of securing a higher position in this category. This becomes more challenging when players' rankings are closely contested, sometimes differing by only 1 or 2 spots. This is where the second criterion becomes crucial. Your painting score acts as a differentiating factor, setting you apart from your competitors. Sportsmanship also plays a role in this award, as it requires you to avoid receiving yellow or red cards during the event. Therefore, it is essential to maintain a friendly demeanor and submit your army list within the specified timeframe.
So player ranking, battle points and paint score will all contribute to your chance of becoming The Weekend Warrior.
Best Imperium, Chaos and Xenos
Players are eligible to win Best in Overall Faction if they have the highest win rating, battle score and paint score compared to other players in their Overall Faction(Imperium, Chaos and Xenos).
What you need (all materials subject for inspection):
- The event will draw from the Leviathan Tournament Companion and incorporate officially endorsed FAQs and points adjustments by GW. Moreover, participants can access additional carefully selected FAQs specific to this event through the following provided link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J0l9QXBxPY1CBidyj5xCtYXc7g26oLFCnFCK7vx47OY/edit
- 2,000-point, 10th edition matched play legal armies, in accordance with Leviathan GT rules. (Forgeworld models are legal and welcome)
- Dice and a measurement tool
- The following apps are highly recommended/necessary: Best Coast Pairings, GW WH 40k Army Builder, Tabletop Battles
- A digital copy of your army list must be available. List writing services such as the GW app are sufficient. A simplified list needs to be input into BCP by the deadline of Sept th.
- A copy of relevant army rules, including your army’s codex/index and any supplemental rules you wish to use.
- Players who wish to use Tactical Secondary Missions will be required to use the Tabletop Battles app. Your opponent must be able to clearly witness you generate your missions.
- If BOTH players agree to use their physical mission decks, then they may, but do so at the risk of an automatic round loss if said deck is discovered to be tampered with.
- Players who coerce or otherwise pressure others to use the physical mission decks may be subject to, but not limited to, a yellow card. (Please do not try to force people into using the physical deck.)
- Markers or tokens used for clarity of buffs and/or debuffs.1
- Objective markers or mats
- Chess clock (There may be some spare clocks for use at the event)
- Chess clocks are not required. However, if either player requests a chess clock, both players must use it. Chess Clock Rules listed below.
1This is only relevant for certain, complex armies (think Tau, psyker-heavy, etc.). If at any point an opponent requests a player to use tokens, markers, or datacards to denote rules (within reason), the player MUST comply.
Chess Clock Rules:
- If one player requests a chess clock, both players must use it.
- Each player gets 1:25 of playing time. It is recommended you pass the clock if the other player is making any extended actions or decisions.
- If you need a clock after the round has started, call a judge and they will set the clock for you.
- If a player times out during the course of the game, they are not allowed to make any more dice rolls except for saving throws and leadership checks. Any other dice roll that they would normally attempt to take is considered failed.
- That player may not use stratagems.
- That player will continue to score points based on their current position on the board, so long as those points don’t require an action or dice roll. (Ex - You could still score Engage On All Fronts, but not Cleanse).
WYSIWYG Policy: This event uses lenient WYSIWYG rules. The rule of thumb is that models should be consistent, and match the profile/size of the intended model. Your opponent should be able to know what they are facing at all times. It’s always best to get TO approval for your non-wysiwyg models. If your models are not approved and do not meet our policy, you may be forced to play without them (and forfeit their points cost). In extreme cases, violation of this policy may result in a yellow card or even disqualification. To have a model approved, please just email or message a judge at one of the links at the top of this document.
Generally ok:
- You have a cool conversion model on the correct base size and closely matches the dimensions of the original model, that is modeled in a similar way to the datasheet it represents.
- You have a squad with weapon x, you want to run them as weapons y instead. Weapons x and y are very similar in appearance, then that is likely fine. However, this must be consistent throughout the army.
- ex. You want to run your tactical marine with heavy bolter as a heavy melta - this is generally fine, as long as all models built with heavy bolters in the army are also treated as a heavy meltas. However, you may NOT use a standard marine with a bolter to be a heavy melta, for they do not have the same profile and it would be inconsistent with many other models in your army.
- This will not be ok if every model in your army is treated as something different than what it actually is. Don’t make it complicated for your opponent to tell what is what.
Paint Policy: At the end of the battle, 10 Battle Points will be given to each player whose army was Painted Battle Ready.
- Battle Ready models are considered to be fully painted and/or primed, and include three distinct features fully painted with three different colors . Bases must be textured. (Clear bases do not need to be painted or textured).
- Any units or models that would be added to your army throughout the game must ALSO be Battle Ready.
