About
ChicagoTekken.com is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Fighting Game Community. The FGC is a diverse group of individuals brought together by a shared love for the games they play. It provides an equal-opportunity platform to showcase the fact that everyone has the ability to succeed.
We stand with the peaceful protests taking place across the nation, and support those with the bravery to be out there on the front lines. Duly elected representatives failed to listen when the protests were limited to the simple act of civil disobedience of taking a knee. And now, as our brothers and sisters are taking to the streets to peacefully demonstrate, we are disgusted by the violence perpetrated and perpetuated by those who have sworn "to protect and serve" the very citizens they are brutalizing.
ChicagoTekken.com and partner organizations and individuals have been hard at work behind the scenes to put together a charity tournament supporting The Bail Project, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to combating mass incarceration by offering free bail assistance and pretrial support to low income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail. Recently, they have also been providing assistance to protesters who have been arrested.
RESIST THE IRON FIST, an open-bracket event for Tekken 7, will feature an all-Black commentary team to support Black voices, and has listened intently to Black community members in the organization of this event.
All players from the Midwest and East Coast are eligible to enter with a $5 registration fee, 100% of which will go towards the cause, with separate brackets for PS4 and PC players. We are partnering with Matcherino to increase the donation pool even further, with ChiTek committing $500 to get things started and matching an additional $5 for every player who signs up (up to another $500). Our production partners at Trace Complete have also pledged to match the same $5 for every player up to $500. We ask you to sign up and spread the word. With only 100 entrants, we’ll be able to send $2,000+ to The Bail Project in support of the fight for equal justice, courtesy of the FGC.
If your organization would like to partner with ChicagoTekken.com to provide donations or additional prize support for competitors, or to contribute in any other way, please email us at [email protected].
Tournament will be broadcasted at https://www.twitch.tv/tracecomplete beginning at 1PM CDT / 4PM EST on Saturday, June 13th with a follow-up exhibition broadcast on Sunday, June 14th beginning at 3PM CDT / 4PM EST.
