Major Pro League #1
Welcome to the NA Pro League! This is the crowdfunded prize pool for the Major Pro League event (as opposed to the Minor Pro League and K-League - read detailed tournament info here). This will be streamed biweekly on Artosis's channel every Sunday at 5PM PST and we will pool together a donation fund that spans the entire event. Each event's prize pool will be calculated as the total fund divided by 3, to ensure there is enough funding for at least two more events.
Please be sure to support via viewership Minor Pro League that is tentatively on Fridays 5PM PST (Jaeyun, Gypsy, etc.) and K-League on Saturday 5PM PST (Zen, etc.). Minor and K-League will try to run on a weekly basis based on availability, but consistency week-over-week is not guaranteed.
If you want to participate and are above ~1900MMR, please reach out to Zen for entrance into K-League. For those who are comfortably S+, reach out to Jaeyun and we will place you in the appropriate tier and league. You must reside in North America to participate, with very few exceptions.
Overview
- The main event of the tournament will revolve around a monthly Major Pro League, which will stream to stream to Artosis’s channel with the top 8 NA players in a Korean-style team battle event
- Matcherino (prize pool) will be organized and advertised to fund the pay-out of the winning team for the Major Pro League on a monthly basis
- Priority entry into Major Pro League is determined by an internal ELO, which will be calculated solely on a player’s performance in the Minor Pro League or K-League events
- Select, strong or well-known players may be invited into Major Pro League with majority vote from existing pro league players
- Internal ELO is designed to be simple and to reward (1) winning and (2) participation, so as to incentivize activity and positive community participation / contributions on a weekly basis
- K-League will be organized by Zen in parallel, which will give lower ranked or lesser known players an opportunity to be “promoted” (1900+ MMR)
- Over time, consistent losers in pro league will converge with consistent winners from K-League, allowing for the opportunity for emerging players to climb
The event is primarily locked to NA players but select outside players may be permitted if lag is okay.
Player Selection Criteria
Pro vs. K-League placement will largely be an informal and imperfect selection basis for sake of time and convenience. The criteria for player selection is a combination of skill, reliability, and manners. Select, strong players may be added to Pro League with a majority vote from existing, active group of players. ELO is saved on Braacket here.
Major Pro League
This will always be 8 Pro League. Artosis will be invited as a player as it is his stream, unless he volunteers to cast instead. The remaining players will be selected on a biweekly basis from available pro league participants, and entry is prioritized by ELO. Therefore, there is an incentive to participate and do well in the weekly Minor Pro Leagues.
Minor Pro League
This can be 6, 8, or 10 Pro League players. The selection will be more lax and reliant on available participants. Lowest ELO + new participants are prioritized to encourage participation and a chance to build their ranking.
K-League
This can be 6, 8, or 10 non-Pro League players. The selection will be more lax and reliant on available participants. Zen will manage this.
Team Selection
Major Pro League teams will be selected by taking the top two players by ELO with a captain’s (top 2 ELO) snake draft
Minor Pro or K-League teams will be up to the organizer (captain’s pick, clan-based, randomized)
Event Structure
Each event will be a best-of-three with three separate events described below. The winning team will be decided by having won two sets of events:
- Pro League Format - Map order is pre-selected and released. Player matchups are randomized. Ace match is played if there is a tie. Player for ace match is randomized on both teams. Each match is BO1 (e.g. 4v4 is 4 BO1’s and ace as necessary, 3v3 is 3 BO1’s with no ace)
- Note: Teams are encouraged to play the “last match” even if a team has no chance of coming back to allow for an additional game to be played (e.g. 4th match in a 3-0 situation in a 4v4), but it is not necessary. This is up to the teams’ discretion
- Winner’s League Format - First map is randomized and released. Both teams independently select their first player. Winning player stays while losing team select both next player and map. Continue until last man standing. Each match is BO1. Losers are knocked out.
- Super Ace (if necessary) - Map is randomized and released. Player with most wins (in the same event) advances to represent each team for Super Ace. If there is a tie in win-count, randomize. Super Ace is BO1.
