GENERAL RULES

This is an open tournament that anyone can compete in.

It's limited to PC runners due to using the LiveSplit component.

Every runner needs to use LiveSplit, register on therun.gg and be connected to it to automatically submit their times.

The Tournament is run in cooperation with therun.gg. The top times from https://therun.gg/WaifuRuns will be considered as entries for the tournament.

Further, you must provide a livestream of your runs on twitch.tv so they can be verified for the tournament.

The top 8 runners at

14th of April 2023 (12am EDT, 6am CEST)

will be invited to the live tournament happening on 15th of April. (9th and 10th place will be invited as fallbacks)

STREAMING YOUR SUBMISSIONS AND LIVE-STREAM (TOURNAMENT)

• Each runner will be required to display their own timer unobstructed on their stream
• Each runner needs to display and have livesplit running that is connected to therun.gg through the IGT plugin (unobstructed)
• Each runner has to display their FPS on their screen (unobstructed)
• Each runner must show their end-time after the end-credits scene
• Each runner must capture their run as a twitch highlight and submit it before the deadline stated above within the Waifuruns Discord
• Every submitted run (excluding live tournament) must not have any crashes or returns to the main menu when loading saves

Any runner in the live-stream that does not provide the information above will be disqualified. Some exceptions may be made for technical difficulties; these will be decided by the staff of the event on a case-by-case basis.

MODS (MODIFICATIONS)

• Modifications are not allowed in this tournament (e. g. healthbar mod and others)
• If you are caught using mods in the live tournament, you will be disqualified immediately. Your position will be revoked and the prize pool distribution will be recalculated amongst the remaining runners. In case a Player gets disqualified in Round 2, the remaining placements will switch in their placement order (e. g. 2nd place gets disqualified -> 3rd place will be 2nd, 4th place will be 3rd, 5th place of Round 1 will be 4th etc.). Same applies to Round 1.
• Due to recent events (mercenaries patch happening), we allow the usage of REFramework:

Due to the unstable nature and complicated set up for kill counters and DA showing we are deciding to now allow re4Framework to be used in tournament qualifying and live event runs. We just request that if using this tool that the cheat function is turned off and you display DA (Difficulty Adjustment) values on stream. This is the version we are allowing lings framework. GAMEMODE

• The gamemode is New game (NG+ is not allowed)
• The difficulty is Professional
• No DLCs are allowed (e. g. Treasures DLC, DLC weapons, no handcannon or any NG+ items)

SETTINGS

• The games maximum FPS has to be capped to 120 FPS
• Frame-rate cap may be altered within 3 sections of the game to go lower than 120 FPS (synced with the new rules for speedrun.com) (Village - to squeeze through the door, Del Lago Fight, Ashley section (Knights blocking you))

SKIPS

• Sequence breakers do not count (e. g. glitches that break a chapter going from chapter 2 to chapter 5 without passing chapter 3 / 4 end screen)

LIVE-TOURNAMENT

For the maximum amount of fairness, this event will have a deadlock on skips that have been found.

Any skip that hasn't been found by 12th of April 2023 (12am EDT, 6am CEST) and was shared in the Waifuruns Discord AND will be used in the live tournament, will disqualify the runner immediately for reasons of fairness (e.g. strathiders joining the tournament).

PLAYING THE GAME

• SRT (Speedrunning Tool) is allowed
• Using DLC weapons or items is not allowed. The same goes for New Game+ (NG+) items
• No usage of charms and accessories
• Tactical resets and pauses may be used to teleport Leon, despawn/move enemies or load things quicker
• The top left corner of the screen where checkpoints are shown must be clear and unobstructed
• No macros may be used in this run
• Pausing the game to move your cursor to the correct inventory/key item is banned
• Pause buffering to load in item pickups from containers/drawers/inventory on certain doors is allowed
• Out-Of-Bounds (OOB) glitches like door skips are allowed
• This is limited to glitches that do not break a sequence (See Skips-section)

PLAYING IN THE LIVE TOURNAMENT

• Every participant is consenting to having their stream restreamed on twitch.tv/waifu for the event
• Returning to main menu to load a save (as it rolls back IGT) will disqualify you. In case of accidents or crashes, a staff member will retime the runners time.
• If the game crashes, the runner must simply restart the game and hit continue. The timer can be paused manually and must start again once loaded back into the game. Due to having the runs conntected via the LiveSplit component, the time is seen on therun.gg. In instances of crashes, the staff will retime the runners time by taking the crash into account. Retiming may delay the announcement of the final results
• You are allowed to reload checkpoints/saves
• In case of a game crash, your time will be recalculated by a staff member from real time of the last save made until the save was loaded
• All runners will start when Waifu (Waifu#9281) or Otten (chiken#7833) says GO in the #go-channel discord channel

THE BEST 4

• The first four (4) runners to complete the game with the fastest time on their timer (*Load time removers will be allowed once they are published for everyone) will move on to the next round, where the same rules apply.
• Any runner not on the Krauser fight when the 4th runner finishes the run will have their run mercy-killed in the interests of time

After the first round, there will be a 15–30 minute intermission to declare the winners of the first round. This intermission also allows runners a break before continuing to the second round.

The winners will be announced in the #results discord channel by Waifu. No other staff holds weight, as Waifu will be the final checker over placements.

Times from therun.gg will be taken into consideration. The final times will be posted with rankings in this channel to verify legitimacy of any victories.

CONDUCT

• Keep it mellow: We're not super strict, but keep it within Twitch TOS
• No outside music
• No racial slurs or anything of the sort. You will be a guest on waifu's stream, so please be polite
• Cursing is fine, but please don't trash-talk other runners
• Excessive breaking of these rules may lead to disqualification and barring from events in the future

TIEBREAKERS

First round

If two or more runners finish the game in the same time, the times upon finishing the Krauser fight will be compared and used as a tie-breaker.

If times are still tied at Krauser, the times when finishing the last boss shall be used.

Second round

If two or more runners tie, their completed time in the first round will be used as the tie-breaker.

If that time also ties, then the time from the first run's Krauser split will be used.

RESOURCES

All resources can be found in the #resources channel in the Waifuruns discord.

All runners will be required to display these on stream during the entirety of their runs.

WINNINGS

All event funding and earnings will go directly to the runners who qualify. This is a non-profit event for Waifu or any of the staff.

$2.000 initial prize pool from Waifu.

Anyone can contribute directly to the prize pool.

Winnings will be split accordingly as follows

From $2.000 - $2.499:

• 45% to 1st place ($900+)
• 30% to 2nd place ($660+)
• 15% to 3rd place ($300+)
• 10% to 4th place ($200+)

From $2.500 - $4.999

• $300 will be split equally amongst 5th-8th place (i.e. $75 each)

The remainder after deduction will be distributed between the top 4 runners:

• 45% to 1st place ($990+)
• 30% to 2nd place ($660+)
• 15% to 3rd place ($335+)
• 10% to 4th place ($220+)

From $5.000 - $7.499

• $500 will be split equally amongst 5th-8th place (i.e. $125 each)

The remainder after deduction will be distributed between the top 4 runners:

• 45% to 1st place ($2.025+)
• 30% to 2nd place ($1.350+)
• 15% to 3rd place ($675+)
• 10% to 4th place ($450+)

From $7.500 - $9.999

• $700 will be split equally amongst 5th-8th place (i.e. $175 each)

The remainder after deduction will be distributed between the top 4 runners:

• 45% to 1st place ($3.060+)
• 30% to 2nd place ($2.040+)
• 15% to 3rd place ($1.020+)
• 10% to 4th place ($680)

From $10.000 - $14.999

• $1.000 will be split equally amongst 5th-8th place (i.e. $250 each)

The remainder after deduction will be distributed between the top 4 runners:

• 45% to 1st place ($4.050+)
• 30% to 2nd place ($2.700+)
• 15% to 3rd place ($1.350+)
• 10% to 4th place ($900+)

At $15.000

• $1.500 will be split equally amongst 5th-8th place (i.e. $375 each)

The remainder after deduction will be distributed between the top 4 runners:

• 45% to 1st place ($6.075+)
• 30% to 2nd place ($4.050+)
• 15% to 3rd place ($2.025+)
• 10% to 4th place ($1.350+)
