Star Wars: Squadrons - Winter Series
Star Wars: Squadrons Winter Tournament Series 25/26
What is The Winter Tournament Series?
The Winter Series will be a tournament series held on three rounds over six weeks, with each round expected to last around 3 hours. There will be a maximum of six spots available to teams, allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis.
It will feature a round-robin format with each team playing a best-of-three series match with every other team. Teams will be awarded one point for each best-of-three victory. These points will aggregate over the three rounds. The first round will be a seeding round with random maps and factions. Relative position at the end of the first round will inform seeding for the next 2 rounds. In rounds 2 and 3 high seed selects either map or faction, which then alternates for each of the remaining games of the match.
Point allocation will double with each round, with a best-of-three victory earning 1 point in the first round, 2 points in the second round, and 4 points in the third round. For example:
- 1 victory in round 1 = 1 point
- 1 victory in round 2 = 2 points, 3 total
- 1 victory in round 3 = 4 points, 7 total
The team with the most points at the end of round 3 wins the tournament. In the event of a tie, a tie-breakers will be played, consisting of a further best-of-three series with the same high/low seed picks.
There is a minimum prize pool of $500, open to donations via Matcherino. Match organisation will take place on Discord. Matcherino will handle the payment of prize money. All players must sign up to Matcherino.
At the end of each event there will be a recap and interview stream.
- A $25 steam card will be awarded to the “player of the day” after the end of the final game of each round, as voted by the stream audience.
- A $5 steam card will be awarded to each player on the team with the best livery, including tags, as voted by stream audience.. At least 60% of players must have their team tag displayed to be eligible.
Teams and players can win these prizes multiple times. There are no restrictions on who votes in these streams.
- Each player on the team with the most points at the end of round 3 will win a portion of the prize pool divided by the number of rostered players on the team.
