Speedrun Rules:
All speedruns submitted to this tournament must also be eligible to submit on speedrun.com leaderboards and be submitted to speedrun.com. All runs must follow the game/category rules, and failure to follow these rules may lead to disqualification.
You can find the rules here as well as down below - https://www.speedrun.com/re2remake?h=New_Game_PC-Claire-standard-120&x=wkpmv8vk-e8mmm6w8.5q80kr31-0nwk7m0n.013mmnrl-789jxv3n.5le447m1
If you need any clarification on the rules ask in the RE2R Speedrun Discord - https://discord.gg/eKwWUuvDy2
Rule changes for the game/category on speedrun.com may be made in the near future. Please check the Discord for updates on rules changes and how they may affect the Tournament. I will try my best to accommodate both the rule changes and the needs of the runners.
GAME RULES:
In order for your submitted run to be verified, these are the rules you must follow:
- Complete the run in a single segment. Your submission should have one non-perishable video containing clear, decent quality video of the entire run, starting from the main menu to the results screen showing your final time, no cuts. Make sure that there isn't anything obstructing the view of the autosave icon that appears in the top left of the screen, as well as the bullet count which appears at the bottom right.
- Your run must contain full unobscured audio of the game. Music is allowed so long as you can still hear the game.
- The final time you submit is the in-game time(IGT) displayed on the final results screen. Do not include milliseconds.
- Complete the run without loading an autosave on Standard/Assisted, as it sets the timer back to what it was when you hit the checkpoint.
- If you die in the run, you are allowed to press continue, because it doesn't set the timer back.
- The purchasable Samurai Edge DLCs are banned from use. You are allowed to use the soundtrack and costume DLCs.
- Usage of Turbo / Macros in runs is not allowed.
- If you spend more than 2 minutes in the pause screen in one sitting, your run will be rejected. If you have a couple instances of pausing that cumulatively go over 2 minutes, but neither of them last longer than 2 minutes on their own, that will not be considered a breach of the rules.
- For PC, your run must have the FPS displayed on screen, unless you are running the out of bounds category (any%)
Rules related to Mods:
- Costume Mods are allowed so long as they do not change your hitbox or animations, and they do not contain nudity/borderline nudity (e.g. Mods that swap Claire's animations to Ada's are prohibited).
- Weapon cosmetics, and Knife skins are allowed, but need to be vetted individually to insure they don't change the hitbox. (Skins from this pack are allowed: https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil22019/mods/578?tab=description)
- Enemy cosmetics are allowed so long as they do not provide a notable advantage in some way (such as the "Glowing Ivy Bulbs" mod). This at the moderators discretion as to whether certain mods will be allowed.
CATEGORY RULES:
- Beat the game without the use of Infinite Weapons. Out of bounds/item duplication is BANNED.
- All runs must start from the main menu or scenario choice screen.
- Submissions must contain all footage for the runs provided.
- FPS must be capped per the category. 60fps or 120fps needs to be displayed during the run. You can activate this in "Steam > Settings > in-game > in-game. See forums for alternative suggestions
- FPS Settings may not be changed during the run. Graphics Settings may only be changed at Boss fights to allow higher/consistent framerate. If Graphics Settings are changed for Boss fights, it MUST be visible during the video. If Graphics Settings changes are cut from the video, the run will be rejected.
Streaming Rules:
Participants must adhere to Twitch TOS during their streams and during the tournament. Any racist/homophobic/transphobic/sexist etc. comments will be grounds for immediate disqualification. Swearing during the tournament is allowed, just please do not be excessive. No politics or otherwise controversial topics are to be discussed during the tournament.
By participating in this tournament you are granting Sneevil permission to restream video/audio footage from your Twitch stream onto her Twitch channel.
If Stream/Internet Dies:
If your stream/internet dies during the tournament, pause as soon as you notice. Restart your stream asap. DM Sneevil if you are having issues restarting your stream. This is only allowed to happen once (exceptions can be made at Sneevil's discretion). Do not start running again until you are given the go-ahead. Participants are HIGHLY encouraged to record their runs during the tournament as well as livestream just in case issues like this occur. You are more likely to not be disqualified if this happens if you have a recording of your run as backup.
If Game Crashes:
If your game crashes, you are allowed to load up your most recent autosave.
Ties:
In the case of a tie, the runner who had the fastest RPD 1 (secret room) time will win. If this does not determine the winner, the runner with the fastest Gas Station will win.
In Summary:
I am hosting this tournament not only because I love speedrunning, but also the friendly rivalries that come with it. I hope everyone, even those who do not qualify, have a fun time speedrunning Resident Evil 2 Remake. I can't wait to see all of your submissions and improvements!
Thanks,
Sneevil <3
