It's been a long break for me and the players, but it's finally time to bring back the Shinhan Tank Proleague for it's fifth season. I never imagined when I bought the STPL back that four years in I'd still be casting Broodwar and hosting tournaments, but here we are! We've had four amazing seasons up until now and with the level of play getting higher and higher I'm excited to see what Season 5 will bring us.

Season 4 I tried something new, the vast majority of the maps were brand new made specifically for the tournament and while for viewers I feel this worked out very well it was a relatively frustrating experience at least early on for the players. This season I'll be toning it back a little bit with the maps, but as always the STPL will continue to bring you maps you'll likely not see anywhere else. That's a major part of the reason I started hosting tournaments to begin with and I know from viewer comments many of you enjoy the maps as well.

Season 4 will see the addition of a brand new team into the fray along with most of the teams from Season 4 returning. Sadly for this season we're going to have to say goodbye to SouL, NetWars and Clan Revolution who unfortunately couldn't make it for this one, but hopefully they'll all be back again in the future. In their stead we'll be saying hello to two brand new teams. Cwt are joining us which brings a new foreign team into the mix and StarCastTV will be joining headed up by Cruiser with an amazing roster of players which makes me very excited to see how it will shift the balance amongst the stronger teams. With new additions to most of our veteran teams as well a lot of new blood could really put the cat amongst the pigeons and we could see a big shake up during the round robin stage.
